Episode Summary From the simple “Alleluia” to the very long pieces of poetic art, hymnography has been a part of the Christian tradition from the first century until today. From glorifying God, to asking for forgiveness, to asking for spiritual deliverance, the hymnography of the Church helps the believer in understanding Truths of Christ and the Church. The apex of hymnography is usually heard during the week where Christians are invited to their Churches every day: Holy Week. It’s a time where the entire Church praises God’s love for His saving Passion and death on the Cross, and praises Christ’s Resurrection, the defeat of Death and the Devil. Today’s podcast deals with that important and all-surrounding part of worship for the Orthodox Church, Voices in Prayer: Holy Week Hymnography.
