Episode Summary

     

iEcclesia presents the first of a three part program on a topic that has fascinated both young and old for centuries. The best trick the Devil ever pulled was making the world believe he never existed. Lucky for us, we know better. Evil is an unfortunate reality for all Christians. We face temptation at every moment of our lives, with the devil trying to pull us into his plot and take us away from Christ. While evil might go unnoticed at times, there are just some instances it just stares you right in the face. From hauntings and witchcraft, to possessions and black magic, Evil in Action is a force that could scare and frighten the lukewarm believer. Yet, they’re things that all of us should not be afraid of, as we have Him who crushed evil with all His might on our side – Jesus Christ. Although many like a good scare, with horror movies bringing in high numbers at the box office, we need to ask ourselves about Evil in Action: Hauntings, Possessions, Witchcraft and the Supernatural…. Is it all true?

Guest host Tim Prattas begins by asking the panel to give a definition of what the following terms mean for us as Orthodox Christians: Evil, the Devil and Demons, Hauntings, Demon-Possession, black Magic and witchcraft. Next, the question of why does evil seem to manifest itself to only certain and specific people is asked. The whole phenomenon of hauntings, with evil being present at a high degree in a house or any place is tackled; What the Church think about the issue and how would the Church deal with something like this. Next,  Many people claim that they have either witnessed someone possessed, or have been possessed themselves, so the question of demon possession is discussed. Finally, the episode concludes with the question of why do these people get possessed in the first place. Is it Just  bad luck or a random event, or does something trigger it and how does the Church deal with this.

All this as we explore Evil in Action: Hauntings, Possessions, Witchcraft and the Supernatural…. Is it all true?
