Episode Summary O good One, who sanctified with Your light the entire earth, You were transfigured on a high mountain, showing Your disciples Your authority: that You redeem the world from transgression. Therefore we cry to You: O compassionate Lord, save our souls. iEcclesia is back with the first podcast of our Third Season to discuss a great event in the life of Christ, an event that, if we realize its importance in our lives, can serve as a stepping stone to change ours. Join us today as we discuss the Transfiguration of our Saviour. The program begins with our guest describing the Feast of the Transfiguration and its roots. Next, the Feast of the Transfiguration is in the midst of summer, yet, it is know from the Bible that this happened right before Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. Our host poses the question why this feastday is celebrated on August 6th instead of sometime in March. Also, Fr. Peter discusses the icon of the Transfiguration. The program continues discussing the significance of this event in the life of the everyday Christian and if it is just something unique in the Scriptures, or something that should be a source of inspiration for Christians to live their lives. Then, Fr. Peter talks about the “uncreated Light” and theosis and then explains if the role of a Christian is to simply be ‘a good person’ or to, indeed, achieve theosis. Father responds to some people who would say: “if God wants me to be holy, then God is expecting too much of me”. The program concludes with what should our listeners take from the feastday of the Transfiguration.
